Frequently Asked Questions

Questions we hear often — and the most direct answers we can give.

About DMSO

What is DMSO?

DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) is a colorless organic compound — chemical formula (CH3)2SO — known primarily for its ability to penetrate biological membranes. It was first isolated in the 19th century and has been studied in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulation contexts for decades.

Is your DMSO pharmaceutical grade?

Yes. Every formula in our line uses the same pharmaceutical-grade DMSO at 99.995% purity — a tighter specification than the 99.9% most suppliers offer. Every batch comes from verified pharmaceutical suppliers with documented certificates of analysis.

What does 99.995% purity mean?

It means 99.995% of the compound is dimethyl sulfoxide, with only 0.005% trace material — approximately twenty times fewer impurities than the 99.9% industry standard. For a carrier compound like DMSO, this is a meaningful difference.

Does DMSO have a smell?

A faint sulfur note is characteristic of pure DMSO — a natural property of the compound, not an indication of impurity. Our 99.995% grade minimizes this as much as possible, and the scent dissipates quickly once applied.

About Our Four Formulas

Which formula should I start with?

For first-time users, we recommend the 60/40 DMSO + Distilled Water (The Introduction). It's the lightest, gentlest formula in our line. Experienced users often prefer the 70/30 Botanical (our signature) or 99.995% Pure. Try our Formula Finder for a personalized recommendation.

What's the difference between the four formulas?

Each serves a different kind of user. The Purist (99.995%) is single-ingredient, for advanced users who want full control. The Botanical (70/30) is our signature triple-blend with magnesium and aloe. The Everyday (50/50) is a balanced mineral blend for regular use. The Introduction (60/40) is the lightest, for newcomers.

Can I switch between formulas?

Yes — and many users do. Common progressions include moving from the Introduction to the Everyday as you become more comfortable, or between the Everyday and the Botanical depending on preference. The formulas are compatible in the sense that they use the same core ingredients at different ratios.

Why is your 70/30 the only one with aloe?

The aloe serves a specific purpose in that formula: it softens the glide and contributes the cushioned feel that defines the Botanical. Adding aloe to a lower-concentration formula (like the 50/50 or 60/40) would dilute an already-gentle product further. We kept the aloe where it contributes most.

Do you sell a 100% pure formula?

Yes — the 99.995% Pure DMSO (The Purist). It's single-ingredient, pharmaceutical-grade, and non-diluted. Designed for advanced users who want full control or plan to create custom dilutions.

About Zechstein Magnesium

What is Zechstein magnesium oil?

A concentrated solution of magnesium chloride derived from the Zechstein Sea — an ancient geological deposit located 1,600-2,000 meters below ground in the Netherlands. Sealed for 250+ million years, it predates modern industrial contamination.

Why is Zechstein considered premium?

Because it's a pre-industrial mineral source. Unlike magnesium from modern seawater evaporation or surface brines, Zechstein has not been exposed to industrial pollutants, agricultural runoff, or environmental contamination. For topical applications where source purity matters, it's the benchmark.

Is magnesium oil actually an oil?

No — it's a misnomer. 'Magnesium oil' is a highly concentrated solution of magnesium chloride in water. The 'oil' name comes from its slightly slick texture on skin. There are no actual oils in the formulation.

About Our Aloe & Water

Is your aloe organic?

Yes. We use certified organic aloe vera, specifically chosen for its polysaccharide content and the absence of synthetic additions (citric acid, sodium benzoate, etc.) that appear in conventional aloe products. The aloe appears only in our 70/30 Botanical formula.

Why distilled water, not regular water?

Tap water contains chlorine, fluoride, and trace minerals. Even filtered water doesn't remove all of these. Because DMSO is a carrier compound, any contaminants in the dilution water may be carried into the skin — so we use pharmaceutical-grade distilled water, the cleanest possible dilution medium.

Application & Safety

How do I apply your formulas?

Apply 2-4 drops to clean, dry skin. Distribute lightly and allow to absorb fully before covering with clothing or other products. Less is more — all our formulas spread easily. See our complete application guide for step-by-step details.

Should I patch test first?

Always, on any formula. Apply a small amount to a discrete area (inside of the forearm is ideal) and wait 24 hours before broader use. This applies even if you've used DMSO before — each formula has a different profile.

Can I mix DMSO products with other skincare?

We don't recommend it. Because DMSO is a carrier, whatever is on the skin during application may be carried in. Apply DMSO products to clean, bare skin, and wait for full absorption before using anything else.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

We do not recommend use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without first consulting a qualified healthcare professional.

Can I use it on broken or irritated skin?

No. Do not apply any DMSO-containing product to broken, irritated, or open skin. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and lips.

Shipping & Storage

How should I store these products?

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. The amber glass bottles provide UV protection. Keep caps tightly sealed. Keep out of reach of children.

What's the shelf life?

The Purist (99.995%) and The Everyday (50/50) last 24 months from batch date. The Botanical (70/30) and The Introduction (60/40) last 18 months, due to the presence of aloe or water. The batch number on each bottle is traceable to the production date.

How fast do you ship?

Orders ship within 48 hours of placement. All orders are tracked. Free shipping on orders over $XX.

What's your return policy?

We accept returns of unopened, resealed products within 30 days of delivery. For hygiene and safety reasons, opened bottles cannot be returned.
