Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO)
WHAT IT IS
DMSO is a colorless organic compound with the molecular formula (CH3)2SO. It's known primarily for its carrier properties — the ability to move through biological membranes — which has made it a longtime subject of interest in both pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulation contexts.
OUR SPECIFICATION
We use pharmaceutical-grade DMSO at 99.995% purity. This is a tighter specification than the 99.9% most suppliers offer — approximately twenty times fewer trace contaminants per unit volume.
USED IN
All four formulas, at varying concentrations: 99.995% Pure (100%), 70/30 Botanical (70%), 50/50 Everyday (50%), 60/40 Introduction (60%).
HOW WE SOURCE IT
Pharmaceutical-grade DMSO from verified suppliers with documented quality control. Every lot comes with a certificate of analysis (COA), reviewed before acceptance into production.
Zechstein Magnesium Oil
WHAT IT IS
A concentrated solution of magnesium chloride in water — 'magnesium oil' is a slight misnomer, named for its slick texture rather than any actual oil content. Our magnesium oil is derived from genuine Zechstein magnesium chloride.
THE ZECHSTEIN SEA
The Zechstein deposit sits 1,600–2,000 meters below ground in the Netherlands. Formed during the late Permian period — over 250 million years ago — it has been geologically sealed ever since. That's the critical point: this magnesium predates every modern source of contamination. No industrial runoff. No agricultural chemicals. No surface pollution.
OUR SPECIFICATION
Certified Zechstein magnesium chloride, traceable to the source deposit. Naturally rich in trace minerals consistent with its geological origin. No chelating agents, stabilizers, or synthetic additions.
USED IN
Two formulas: 70/30 Botanical (~20%) and 50/50 Everyday (50%).
Certified Organic Aloe Vera
WHAT IT IS
Aloe vera — specifically, certified organic aloe vera juice, naturally rich in polysaccharides. Not generic aloe extract, not aloe concentrate with added stabilizers. The real botanical.
WHY IT MATTERS
The aloe in our Botanical formula isn't filler. It transforms the glide of DMSO into something measurably smoother, and contributes the cushioned quality that makes this our signature. Using certified organic aloe — rather than generic juice — means we know exactly what's in the bottle.
OUR SPECIFICATION
Certified organic aloe vera, sourced for polysaccharide content and the complete absence of synthetic additions that appear in conventional aloe products (citric acid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, etc.).
USED IN
One formula: 70/30 Botanical (~10%).
Pharmaceutical-Grade Distilled Water
WHAT IT IS
Pure H₂O, produced by distillation — a process that removes minerals, chlorine, fluoride, and other trace contaminants found in tap water. The cleanest possible carrier liquid.
WHY NOT TAP WATER
Tap water contains chlorine, fluoride, and dissolved minerals. Filtered water removes some — but not all — of these. Because DMSO is a carrier compound, any contaminants in the dilution water may be carried into the skin along with the DMSO. Distilled water is the only dilution medium that meets our purity standard.
OUR SPECIFICATION
Pharmaceutical-grade distilled water, produced to the same standards as water used in injectable drug formulations. Not filtered. Not purified. Distilled.
USED IN
One formula: 60/40 Introduction (40%).
What We Don't Use (And Why)
No Fragrance
Often added to mask the natural sulfur note of DMSO. We prefer honesty — you'll know you're using DMSO.
No Dyes or Colorants
There is no functional reason to color a topical product. It adds only unknowns.
No Preservatives
Our formula chemistry (high DMSO concentration, no bio-available organic matter beyond the aloe) is naturally inhospitable to microbial growth.
No Fillers or Carrier Oils
No glycerin, propylene glycol, jojoba, or coconut oil. We don't stretch our actives.
No Essential Oils
Common in competitors' products for scent. They also sensitize skin and interact with DMSO's carrier properties. We leave them out.
No Emulsifiers or Stabilizers
Our ingredients are naturally miscible. Nothing is needed to keep the formulas uniform.
No Synthetic Aloe Additives
Conventional aloe juice often contains citric acid, sodium benzoate, or potassium sorbate. Our certified organic aloe does not.
